Slavic Bride Convention

The most important function in a Slavic household is the bridal service, which is usually celebrated in flower, summer or autumn. It was a time for celebration and satisfaction, as it marked the beginning of the new lifestyle. Men married after successful efforts, fishermen held their ceremonies after a good catch and shepherds tied the knot after the calving year.

Before the wedding ceremony, the bride is usually given a rushnyk ( a flower with a cross). Her relatives provide her with bread and salt and request for their blessing. They also give the couple ektenias ( a ring ) that symbolizes a slavic marriage and a promise of faithfulness and fidelity. The wedding wears a veil, which she never takes off, except to go to the washroom. It was considered a bad omen to take off the mask during the festival, and in ancient times it was typical to punish a wedding who did so.

After the ceremony the newlyweds walk through the streets of the community, with folks throwing seeds of grain, sweets ukranian women and pennies for happiness and prosperity. They also stop at local memorials and offer gift. The wedding ceremony is supervised by a master of ceremonies called a” Tamada”. He is a loud companion who runs the numerous tournaments.

When the wife leaves her parents ‘ home, she takes with her a blanket that she should retain, not to give away or enable somebody touch. The groom’s relatives tested the wedding by asking her questions and requesting fluids from her. If they placed cash on a tray, the bride would provide them waters or answers their issues.
